Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV), East Timor’s leading referral hospital, hosts international and local healthcare experts. With English as its primary working language, students gain hands-on training in modern facilities including simulation labs, emergency care units, and research centres, ensuring strong practical and clinical learning experience.
Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV), formerly known as Dili National Hospital, stands as East Timor’s largest and only national-level healthcare institution.
Located in the eastern part of the capital city, Dili, the hospital was renamed in 2003 to honor Guido Valadares, a distinguished government official of the 1975 Fretilin administration.
Recognized as the country’s central referral hospital, HNGV provides advanced secondary and tertiary healthcare services to patients from across the nation. With legal status, as well as administrative, financial, and asset autonomy, the hospital plays a vital role within the state’s healthcare framework.
As an autonomous institution directly accountable to the Minister of Health and funded by the Ministry of Finance, HNGV is the country’s premier referral hospital. Here, your clinical training will be anchored in real-world practice with access to modern facilities, including a simulated emergency department, advanced clinical and research laboratories, a pathology resource centre, organ demonstration rooms, and dedicated problem-based learning spaces.
Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV) brings together an international team of healthcare professionals from Cuba, Australia, the UNFPA, and local doctors. English serves as the primary working language, while Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Tetum are also widely used in communication and clinical records.
